Cal/OSHA Consultation Program. The Cal/OSHA Consultation Service was
established to assist employers in voluntarily complying with Cal/OSHA
regulations. Employers can request assistance from the Consultation Service in
identifying or correcting potential safety or health problems. Assistance is
provided through telephone support, educational materials, and on-site visits.
On-site visits are free of charge and will not result in citations or
penalties. However, any serious hazards that are identified on the visit must
be corrected within an agreed-upon time. The Consultation Service has other
free resources such as instructional pamphlets, model Injury and Illness
Prevention Programs, and other useful publications. The Consultation Service
does not report to or communicate with the Cal/OSHA Enforcement Staff.
Consultation is a useful and free resource that employers are encouraged to
use.
